Center offers free cancer screenings

Free skin cancer screenings will be offered 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 18 at Morton Plant Mease's Turley Family Health Center, 807 N Myrtle Ave., Clearwater.

Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital sponsors a support group for stroke survivors at noon Thursday at the Tarpon Springs Recreation Center, 400 S Walton Ave.

Facilitated by Sheree Leppinen, RN, the mission is to offer an opportunity for stroke survivors and caregivers to network and support each other and promote health, independence and well-being.

The group is open to the public and free of charge. A light lunch will be provided.

A free seminar entitled "Medicare Information 2010: Learn About the Changes," is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, 1395 S Pinellas Ave.

Speakers will be Norm Weiss, who has 25 years of experience in Medicare, Mediciad, and other health care financial issues; and attorney Luis Garcia-Rivera, who will discuss basic estate planning.
